At a coffee shop today I met a group of people. They were natives to the city; it was my first time there.
We talked about each of our experiences and what was worth it in life and what wasn't. It was one of those conversations that doesn't really inspire you to do anything, but just makes you wish you could talk about the complexity of life forever with people who knew so many different things that you didn't know.
And not big things, either, but the best places to get ice cream in a given city, or the best music to listen to on a rainy day.
They invited me to their apartment, those people I met, but I kindly declined because it felt like the right thing to do. I could only hope they enjoyed talking as much as I did; I really had no idea.
But as I retired to my hotel down the street and put in the room key, alone in the hallway, I realized one great truth about life is that you should generally take people you like up on their offers.
