Social Lives

Dec 11, 2015
1 min read

Three sat around a table conversing, or trying to appear as if it were so.

Each thought himself different from the other two; in reality they were quite similar.

Each thought to himself how much he wanted his personality to be better, more exciting, like them. Each was scared as though the dullness of the conversation was his doing.

A pendulum of peer pressure swung, enveloping one as it released the last. If all had stopped their attempts to be different it would hit an equilibrium with real laughter and talk but a point in time where this happened never passed.

It was a shame for those who knew how close their objects of desire were, and that each's work to be himself fell flat at the expense of the others.

But such is the social interaction and ever shall be, attempts at greatness without end.
